THE LANGLEY HORSE FEDERATION

Celebrates "THE SPIRIT OF THE HORSE MEMORIAL GARDEN"

Campbell Valley Park 1200 208th Avenue, Langley, B.C.

Spirit of the Horse Garden
Mission Statement

To embrace the majesty of equus; animals who have forged the lives of many,
and to employ their generous spirit to promote fellowship, hope,
courage and strength within our community.

Come and tour the Garden and see the over 300 horse remembrance plaques.

Recent Plaques:

LYNX: With a heart of gold, Lynx was one of the finest Canadian horses to grace both dressage and jumper worlds.  He was owned and exhibited by Patricia Deptford and was an outstanding show horse and sire, producing many foals who have also reached the top.  He tragically passed away on January 28, 2006 and will always be remembered for leading the way.

NIKITA (Ice on Fire): This splendid horse was a constant companion and inspiration to his young owner and rider Victoria Karram of North Vancouver.  He helped her not only reach for her dream, but also to find her second self.

LEGEND: This special little Miniature horse was a gentle soul and partner to Gayle Longstaffe who rescued him to care for and love him for over 14 years.

Your support for "Spirit of the Horse Garden" is greatly appreciated.

In partnership with the Greater Vancouver Regional District, the Township of Langley, Horse Council BC and the Langley Horse Federation, the "Spirit of the Horse Garden" has been created.

Nestled in the heart of a pastoral country park, this beautiful garden has been created to celebrate the horses and ponies in our lives. Meandering brick walls, granite benches and a memory lane of bricks leading to the Spirit Courtyard display inscriptions and personal messages.

Unique in Canada, the Garden is located on the north side of Campbell Valley Park Equestrian Centre and incorporates 1/3 of an acre leased GVRD land. A quiet haven for horse lovers to contemplate and celebrate memories of their faithful friends.

Come visit the Garden and enjoy a picnic in the park, on the grass, surrounded by nature and many of our joyful horse companions.

"It was a great treat to us to be turned out into the home paddock or the old orchard; the grass was so cool and soft to our feet, the air so sweet, and the freedom to do as we like was so pleasant; to gallop, to lie down, and roll over on our backs, or to nibble the sweet grass. Then it was a very good time for talking, as we stood together under the shade of the large chestnut tree."
